Florida Legal Services names its Tallahassee headquarters in honor of Paul Doyle
For 35 Florida Legal Services has been the voice for Florida’s poor, disadvantaged, and vulnerable. FLS has also long defended the rights of these underprivileged and often overlooked citizens, not only in courtrooms, but also in Florida’s capitol. Until recently, this has been achieved from rented basement offices.
But thanks to the supporters of FLS’ “Building Justice Campaign,” Florida Legal Services now has its own newly renovated office in Tallahassee, named in honor of Paul Doyle, who has dedicated four decades of his career to public service.

Second District Court of Appeals Judge Marva Crenshaw appointed to Foundation board
The Foundation welcomes Second District Court of Appeals Judge Marva L. Crenshaw to its board. Crenshaw, who presides in Lakeland, was appointed by Florida Supreme Court Chief Justice Peggy Quince and will serve a three-year term that is effective immediately. Crenshaw is succeeding Judge Thomas "Tam" Wilson, who retired from the bench in October.
The DeFuniak Springs native graduated from Tuskegee Institute with a bachelor's degree and received her juris doctorate from the University of Florida. She has served in many capacities, including prosecutor for the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office, Bay Area Legal Services attorney, Hillsborough County Court Judge, and Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Court Judge.

Florida Justice Summit examines alternatives to expanding state's prison system
Follow the path of the thousands of Florida juveniles who are incarcerated each year, and you'll likely find that poverty, poor education and a difficult home life were the stepping stones that landed them behind bars.
These jailed youths often become "inmates-in-training," who eventually reach a graduation of a different sort: straight to Florida's adult prison system.

Foundation accepting applicants for board seats
The Foundation is seeking applicants for eight seats on its board of directors for terms starting July 2010 under the Florida Supreme Court approved governance plan.
Since 1981, the Foundation has been the administrator of the Florida Supreme Court's IOTA Program. The Foundation board awards all grants, oversees the Foundation's fundraising program, sets investment policies, Foundation policies generally, and adopts the annual operating budget.
